And it's bordering on dangerous
I use google map and it is primarily designed for cars .and if you use the satellite and zoom one can reasonably navigate a b-double truck around. but Garmin GPS which set me back $648.00.
Which is primarily designed for trucking(lgv710)
Is absolutely the worst GPS ,Garmin has ever brought out.
I have had Denzel products since 2014.
The first one had issues yet with some emails to Garmin it got better to the point of I was still using it till 2022 and it started playing up so I brought the newer version which was powered by android hmmmmm. ok a bit buggy had issues with directions probably because of android which is owned by Google and the like
Unfortunately I lost them both in a fire 😠but I used a tom tom trucking GPS which wasn't designed for b-double trucks.
Not good . and after it cost me a replacement windscreen and $1000.00 fine in SA for being on a road I should not have been on. It went out the window, and
I went to Harvey Norman and purchased a new Garmin 710 with a trucking setup.
Now I'm not sure whether the development team is or was just having a laugh but they decided to forgo the shortest distance for a (wait for it) straight line! Yes U read right !. and are probably asking( does it come with wings and a jet engine?) to attach to the truck to allow for flight to make use of straight line GPS. Well no it doesn't . hence the" are they having a laugh" statement as last I checked my truck doesn't float, fly or burrow through mountains as much as I wish it did.
Then to top it off, after 3 updates. A nightmare getting it to connect to android one and as for the Denzel car app I'm still scratching my head on that as it can't connect to my GPS or my Fenix watch.
But the real kicker is the fact that on highways it likes to tell me and truck bypass (which are primarily designed for road trains up to 55 metres long that there's a 25 metre length limit on this bypass ....... Sorry was just admiring the 35 Metres a-double road train's passing me!. Ohh wait there over 25 metres aren't they (yep U bet your ass they are!). Why are they here?. Welllllll.
Then the fact that the software on the GPS says the fastest route which in my case is wtf? As I'm paid by the km.
Then I come out of Rocky(Rockhampton) and instead of the GPS saying" head towards emerald for 40 km or so then turn left and follow the likheart highway south it tells me I can go up mt Larcombe and mount Morgan yes mountains!. Which conveniently has big signs saying " no heavy vehicle access!. Now if it's based on Google maps Google's car would have taken satellite pics of these roads and even google thought fark it it's not important. So one Wonder's with Garmin GPS sorry trucking GPS wtf?.
Ohhhh fun time to reverse two loaded trailers around and go back. Now I drove back down to the Bruce highway and used google map to send me towards emerald and down the likheart highway and till I got past the roundabout Garmin persisted on tell me to go back including U-turns which were switched to off . and via mount Morgan ( no heavy vehicle access).
One does have to Wonder!!. So I'm emailing them to ask .Have they or google invented a Time machine?. As to why the software has regressed back 10 years to the point of apparently there's no legal length or weight limits on local/ back roads but they are on highway's -motorways and heavy vehicle bypasses.
So I hope U got a laugh out of this statement!.
But in short be weary of buying this product if U drive a truck in Australia as it is down right useless!.
And I should have saved 600+ dollars and stuck with google maps.
